102 Anatomy & Physiology II
This is a continuation of basic Anatomy/Physiology with particular emphasis placed on the function of organs and organ systems (Cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urinary, lymphatic immunological) along the basic blood chemistry, bloody pH, body fluids and electrolyte balance and acid base balance.
103 Philosophy of T.C. M.
This course is a detailed and intensive introduction to basic theories of Traditional Oriental Medicine and association of the theories with their historical backgrounds, philosophy significance, and clinical applications.
104 Traditional Chinese Medical Theory
This course is a combination of three series basic theoretical concepts of traditional Chinese medicine. Student explore yin/yang theory along with five elements, the five phases (Wu Xing); traditional models for physiologic function, including the Zang and Fu organs and the substance of energy (qi), essence (Jing), blood (xve), and fluids (jin/ye), the origins and the processes of diseases, including the four levels of disease.
105 Meridians and Collaterals
This course will present the complex network of meridian and collaterals that integrates that body’s energy and functions into a unified organism. The 12 primary meridians, the secondary meridian, and extra points are discussed.

This course covers earth’s diversity of biological organisms and systems. The process of life from most basic unicellular to highly complex mammalian organisms will be

107 Organic/Chemistry
This course will examine basic principles of organic and biochemistry. Fundamentals of organic and cellular chemistry will be presented. The structures, properties, metabolism functions as practical and clinical aspects of the following groups of bio-compounds will be studies.
108 An Introduction to Acupoints
This course emphasizes on acupuncture points, in which when stimulated, has specific, characteristic effects on the physiologic functions and structures of the body. Points are presented individually and in combination according to classical point categories, five-phase interaction and individual therapeutic effects.
109 Medical Terminology
This course covers western medical terms used for various diseases, surgical procedures, medical procedures and body parts. Also it includes western medical abbreviations, and the formation of singular and plurals. Lecture-discussion.
110 Nutrition and Diets
This is an introduction to basic principals of nutrition and food metabolism, which also includes vitamins and food supplement as well as essential nutritional requirements and values. The physiology of digestive system with respect to food processing and metabolism will also be presented. Drug-diet interaction will be covered.
111 Food Therapy
This course teaches the students the basic philosophy of nutrition and
Major food categories, along with diet plan and use of food supplements. The effects of heavy metals on human beings as well as blood sugar central, and weight management are the major topics. Confidentiality is some of the topics discusses.
112 Introduction to Herb & Herbalogy
This course covers the history and development of herbal medicine and acupuncture in Asia and the U.S.A. Principles of herb logy including the principles of colors and tastes, herbal entering channels; preparation of herbs for medical use are also presented. Lecture – discussion – herbal identification.
113 Western Treatment of Disease
This course presents a comprehensive survey of clinical practices of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and chiropractic. An over view of general aspects of Western Medicine including internal medicine, surgery obstrectitrics, gynecology, science and symptoms, diagnosis and treatments will be discussed.
114 Oriental Treatment of Disease
This course is designed to provide the students with a basic deductive reasoning process regarding oriental treatments of different diseases. It involves reliable ways to differentiate various conditions commonly seen in Oriental Medicine . Practice. It concise of classic theories of infectious diseases caused by exogenous wind and cold factors. Included are Etiology, clinical manifestation, pulse and tongue signs. Complications at different stages of each infection disease. This course also covers basic therapeutic herbal formula applicable to different diagnosis of syndrome and different stages of disease progression.
115 Usage of Acupoints and Acupressure
This course includes the study and practice of basic Acupressure techniques, breathing and exercise programs.
116 Point Location and The Meridians
Over the course of two quarters, students study the location of approximately four hundred acupuncture points, the location and major channels and trajectory of the major channels, (meridians) and collateral vessels. Point location is both lecture and hands on practice and is intended to provide students with the facility to accurately locate the points and channels.
117 Acupuncture Technique I-II-III
These courses primary introduce the basic concepts of meridians, collaterals and Acuopoints. It also, covers Acupuncture history, classification, distribution and function of meridians and collaterals. Include a detail study of the five Zang and the six Fu organs, namely the lung & large intestine, stomach & spleen, heart & small intestine, kidney & urinary bladder, liver & gall bladder, pericardium & sonjiao channels.
Further more, after the completion of satisfactory study and work, the students will examine the external and internal pathway of channels and organs.
The Eight Extra Channels are also examined along with extraordinary points, Twelve Divergent Meridian, Fifteen Collaterals, Twelve Muscular Regions, and Twelve Cutaneous Regious. Lecture-discussion-demonstration
118 Breathing Technique, and Qi Gong
This course will provide the students with the knowledge and experience with the health and longevity promoting exercise of Tai chi chuan and Gi Gong. It is designed for practical knowledge and experience of such exercises to promote the health and balance of students, practioner, increases awareness and concentration, integrates Oriental Medicine principals with Kinetic movement, and consul at instruct in terms of exercise, biomechanical alignment, and health.
119 Scalp Acupuncture, Special Acupuncture Modalities
This course will introduce scalp acupuncture and hand/wrist acupuncture.
Included in the course are examinations of ear Acupuncture, study of electro-acupuncture and magnet therapy. Lecture demonstration and practice.
120 Biomedical Pharmacology
This course covers the important prescription drugs, their classifications, and their side effects. Herbal medicine, vitamins and minerals, and their interaction with prescription medications will be discussed.
121 Pharmacology
This course provides the students with a basic understanding of the importance of pharmaceutical products, commonly prescribed today, including the categories, physiological actions, prominent therapeutic effects and side effects, and proprietary and generic names. Interaction of pharmaceuticals with herbs and nutritious is addressed.
122 Gynecology
This course presents the importance of the liver function and its influence on menstruation. It discusses the different problems and imbalances involved in menstruation due to liver mild function, such as amenorrhoae, menorrhagia……… The influence of the liver blood on (Ren Mai) and penetrating vessels (Chong Mai), the two extraordinary vessels that are closely related to the uterus will be discussed.
123 Diagnosis Method of TMC, Pulse and Tongue Diagnosis
These courses introduce the four methods of diagnosis in Oriental medicine which emphasis on tongue observation and pulse diagnosis. Also analysis of symptoms and signs of diseases eight principles, qi, blood, body fluid, etiology, five elements, and channels differentiation are included.
124 Ethical and Legal Issues
This course provides essential legal and ethical parameters of practice for the licensed practitioner of oriental medicine. Scope of practice, risk management and patient confidentiality are some of the topics discussed.
125 CPR & First Aid
This course covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first-aid training. The main purpose of this course is to teach students the psycho-motor skills needed in emergency care to help sustain life and to minimize pain and the consequences of injury or sudden illness. Lecture – discussion - demonstration – practice.
126 Case Management
This course involves the discussion of reports, testimony and medical review. Also, it covers the business and management aspects of practicing acupuncture and oriental medicine in private clinic establishments.
127 Clinical Observation
Interns will be given an opportunity to observe the OM practice and the care of patients.
Clinical observation. It involves the interns the opportunity to manage patients under the supervision of clinic faculty. It involves assisting patients in filling out all necessary clinic forms, (including the consent form), regularly reviewing patient’s files for complete understanding of the patient’s protocol, progress, treatment, and assessment plan, demonstrating competency in communication skills, patient management, and insurance billing, taking patient histories, including recording of vital signs, as well as observing clinical practice of needling and other OM modalities including case presentation and discussions.
128 Clinical Internship I, II, III
Interns will be given the opportunity to demonstrate greater responsibility in practice management of patients under minimal supervision by clinic supervisors. Each intern must establish treatment protocol approved by the clinical supervisor for the I and II courses. This includes proposed western clinical impressions, OM diagnosis, and a recommended treatment protocol that includes needling therapy, herbal and nutrition prescriptions, and/or other OM modalities that are applicable to the patient’s condition. The student will be treating patients under minimal supervision, after completing the satisfactory work in the first two-course work. The interns may need to consult at times with the clinical supervisor for input and consultation in difficult and complex cases. Further laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging also may be recommended as well as possible referral to another medical specialist by the student or clinical supervisor.
129 Clean Needle Technique
The course covers the transmission of diseases and how to protect ourselves and our patient from these diseases. Clean needle practice, theory technique, proper handling and disposal of needles and proper sterilization of all materials used in practice are covered.
130 Auricular Acupuncture
The Ear is a microsystem in our body that shows all the problems of the body and is also used for the treatment of diseases. This course covers the map of the ear and how to treat different diseases.
131 External Technique, Cupping, Moxibustion and Tui Na
The course covers the method to perform cupping, moxibustion and Tui Na massage on a patient. All of these techniques have been used since ancient time for the treatment of disease. |
